Ensemble da Sé de Angra
This group was created following the actitivies of the [liturgical] Choir of Angra Cathedral. Made its debut concert in 16 June 2012 in the presentation ceremony of the triple-CD “Música Sacra Portuguesa Século XIX: Arquivo Capitular da Sé de Angra”. The group participated in the Festival “Música Ibérica Séculos XVI & XVII”, that took place in Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória from 28 July to 5 August 2012. In 2012 it also made a commented concert at Angra Public Library 20 September and the Christmas Concert of that institution in 20 December where, besides sacred polyphony, also performed Christmas villancicos by Portuguese composers like Gaspar Fernandes and Pedro de Cristo.
The group made a series of three concerts in the church of Sagrado Coração de Maria in Biscoitos, in a collaboration with the Sociedade Filarmónica Progresso Biscoitense which was celebrating its 80th anniversary, at the church of S. Gonçalo in Angra do Heroísmo and at the Igreja Matriz de Santa Cruz in Praia da Vitória on 1, 2 a 3 February 2013 respectively. Inactive during several months, the group made its last concert at the church of S. Gonçalo, 3 August 2013, with Manuel Mendes’s Missa pro Defunctis and several works for three voices.
Ensemble da Sé de Angra: Carolina Barbosa, Sara Vieira (superius); Ana Sousa, Raquel Barbosa (altus); Luís Henriques, Ricardo Costa (tenor); Jorge Barbosa, Basílio Sousa (bassus), with the later collaboration of Nelson Pereira (bassus).
