B-Gu Ms 15 #021

f. 10r

In this video Hendrik Vanden Abeele talks about folio 10 recto of the 1481 Ghent antiphonary. This folio contains the eleventh and twelveth responsories of Matins at the Third Sunday of Advent. He emphasises the adaptation of the manuscript from the Monastic Rite to the Secular Rite.

Venden Abeele also talks about signs that appear in this folio, the custos and its function – the indication of the first pitch in the next stave. He also reads several other instructions for performance.
